The birth of a new collaboration... An american style icon and an established french design team come together for art’s sake!.

Summer 2019, Iris Apfel flew to Carros in the south of France with a specific goal in mind. The centenarian style icon who has witnessed 10 decades of technical evolution over her lifetime had a rendezvous with the world’s most advanced 3D image capture technology to create some highly original pieces of art.

This collaboration between Iris Apfel and windowfrance.art gave birth to an exciting range of house art products from sculptures to fine bone china collections. Pieces of original home art that emit her iconic playful and extravagant style.

Head creatives Jean-Marc Mesguich and Ralph Hutchings of the windowfrance.art design team received Iris Apfel for a week of experimentation and creation in their unique 3D research facility ‘the DNA Factory’, at the heart of this creative space, an image capture studio capable of capturing instantaneous 3D digital images in full movement.

Iris was captured in a selection of her iconic clothing and jewelry shipped over from the USA. The creatives and 3D graphists worked with graphic tools to create both 3D and  2D  representations of America’s most loved style icon.

The result was a selection of sculptures using the very latest creation and production techniques available to date.

From passion to paper...

During her visit, Iris’s passion for combing the antiques markets in the streets of the old centre of Nice - France, was the inspiration for the creation of her own remarkable collections of fine bone china tableware. Two collections that emit her absolute love for life and for sharing the company of others around the table.
